　　15 months ago when i first explored this wonderful illusory cyber world, i was captured by the romantic cyber love. the one i was in love with was a knowledgeable and humorous man who was doing his master degree. i laughed and cried for him simply because i was in love. i stayed up whole night chatting with him on the phone also because i was in love. i sang and danced and everything in my mind appeared so beautiful, still because i was in love. with this kind of romantic and exciting love, i thought i ‘d already got the whole world.however, i was not satisfied that i could only feel him and communicate with him through the wire or touch him on the screen. i was not satisfied that when i needed an arm to rest myself on, he was not with me. i was not satisfied that he could not stand shoulder by shoulder with me to enjoy the beauty of the sea. all in all, i was not satisfied that i had to put all my passion toward him into the unemotional words. i wanted a love, a real love from the real world.

　　One of the main reasons for these immoral behaviors is that some people lack personal manners and public consciousness. Actually these small things in many people's eyes have brought great bad effects on our community. Above all, these immoral behaviors disturb social order and disrupt socialsbility. Moreover, one's violating public morality not only evades others' benefits but also does harm to himself. For example, if most people buy pirated products, those original producers will suffer great damage and might lose the enthusiasm to continue their producing. I think part of this is because we’ve become too excited about facts and not enough about things we can’t see and measure. Reading books from our own culture helps us understand our roots. Reading books from other cultures helps us understand the way other people think and react to situations. It also teaches us that we’re not so very different from others, and that leads to better relations between cultures.

　　Reading literature also feeds our spirits. Even when the material we’re reading is about terrible sadness and hardship, it still brings us in touch with our inner selves. It makes us think about issues other than new car we want to drive or how much money we’re making.

　　Studying history gives us more information than just who died when or who won which war. It tell us about how human beings have related to each other at different periods in our development. It gives us the big picture. So often, when international crises occur, we only see the problem of the moment. We have no idea how something that happened twenty years ago was the beginning of this current problem. Without that information, we can have only a shallow understanding of ? going on in the world.
