However, nowadays some people hold the belief that appearance outweighs abilities, partly because some beautiful people seem to have advantages in competitive situations like job interviews and have been given more opportunities than others.
Nevertheless, I still firmly believe that abilities are more important For one thing, although good looks are easy on the eye, it is always one s abilities that create values that really matter. For another, while people s good looks were born to them, abilities have to be gained through deliberate self-cultivation and years of hardworking which speak more of people s true colors. 在上初中之前，我一直都认为英语就是由ABC……这26个字母组成的单词连成的句子，比我们的国语中文学起来要简单很多，知道它也有语法，也有语音语调，却从来不知道英语并没有我想象的那么枯燥，它和人类一样拥有着生命力
在初一那年暑假，英语老师为了让我们的假期更加有趣充实一点，便建议我们每个星期看一部英文电影，这对于我真的是一个极大的诱惑。在刚开始看的那几天，我只是单单看个电影情节，过了两三个星期后，我发现电影中的演员们所说的话语配上有趣滑稽的面部表情，显得惟妙惟肖。我深受感染，有时看得入迷，嘴里还会跟着念叨几句，语音语调跟上了心里还会颇有一点成就感。
我的英语家教老师觉得我口语进步了很多，有的单词没学也会（虽然不认识单词，但单词的读音在电影里听过，便记住了），老师问我最近在学口语吗，我便老实告诉她看英语电影的是。后来，老师又建议我去听一些国外的英文歌曲，也有助于我提升口语，我当然十分乐意的接受了这个好意见。
后来我妈给我买了一个mp4，歌不多，只有64首，但全都是英文歌，我每天都要听上一个小时，要求自己不管知不知道歌词的意思，也要把全部歌都学会。问我原因，其实也没什么，只是打心底里喜欢罢了。
我喜欢英语，并不是为了追求时尚，而是正真的喜欢它的风格，喜欢他的每一个字母，每一个单词，在他的'字里行间中处处都散发着生命的气息，令我陶醉。

If you ask me what is the most precious, I would say that it's time.
Time is something once lost, you could never have again. Therefore, we should cherish it and spend it in meaningful things. However, many people do too many meaningless things to kill their time, such as playing computer, watching TV, or gossiping. When you do these things, the time has long been unwittingly flowed away. In my opinion, the best way to make full use of time is planning your time rationally and sticking the plan firmly. Spending more time on something significant not only will make your life fulfilling, but also will give you a sense of accomplishment. Instead, killing your time with meaningless things would bring you depression even despair.
Remember that those who abandon time will be also abandoned by time.

I agree with the statement insofar as our heroes tend to be ordinary people like us. However,I strongly disagree with the further assertion that people become heroes simply by being "in the right place at the right time." If we look around at the sorts of people we choose as our heroes, we realize that heroism has far less to do with circumstance than with how a hero responds to it.
I concede that heroes are generally ordinary people. In my observation we choose as our heroes people with whom we strongly identify--people who are very much like us. In fact many of us call a parent, grandparent, or older sibling our hero. Why? My intuition is that the more a person shares in common with us--my terms of experience, heritage, disposition, motives, and even physical attributes--the more accessible that person's heroic traits are to us, and the stronger their attraction as a role model. And few would dispute that we share more in common with immediately family than with anyone else.
